Why Taylor Swift “Put The Guitar Down”
Taylor Swift spent about two years writing dozens and dozens of songs for herRED album. At one point, her label thought she had enough material to release an album, but Taylor wasn’t done writing. In fact, she couldn’t stop.
“I wrote for two years and I wrote until I couldn’t write anymore,” she said. “That was the stopping point for this album. I knew when I couldn’t think of one more thing that I needed to write about, couldn’t conjure up one more emotion that hadn’t already been conveyed on the album somehow.”
Eventually, Taylor reached a point where she told herself “put the guitar down” and knew the album was finished. It didn’t take long though before she picked up her pen and guitar to begin working on tunes for her next project.

Taylor Swift: Billboard Music Award Wins Were a 'Wonderful Feeling'
The biggest stars in music lit up the stage of Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena for the Billboard Music Awards. But no one beamed brighter than Taylor Swift, who netted eight awards. Accepting her gold statue for top artist, Swift gave props to the 3.7 million fans who purchased "Red" and drove her across-the-board victories: "Thank you for making my music the soundtrack to your crazy emotions," she said. "You are the longest and best relationship I've had."

She also premiered her new single, "22," in one of the night's most spirited performances, which kicked off in her dressing room and wound its way through the audience before hitting the stage. Ditching her glittering blue Zuhair Murad mini-dress for a unicorn-emblazoned T-shirt and shorts, Swift sang of the joys of being her tender age, surrounded by a full posse (including members of two mainstay Vegas acts, Cirque du Soleil and Jabbawockeez). Billboard checked in with Swift just days after the show, as she was already back in the thick of her current U.S. tour.
Billboard: You were the night's big winner. What was the highlight of the night for you personally?
Swift: For me the highlight of the night was standing onstage with my 15 breathless, beaming dancers after we finished our performance. We were all standing together and got to look out into a crowd that was giving us a standing ovation. It was a wonderful feeling.

What performances stood out to you? Was there anyone who surprised or moved you in a way you didn't expect?
I loved Ed Sheeran's performance because I get to see him move crowds with just an acoustic guitar and his voice every night on tour, and to watch him do that on a nationally televised scale made me so happy.
Who were you excited to see and meet at the show?
I was just excited that a bunch of my friends were there like Selena [Gomez and Ed]. It turned the night into more of a dance party than a high-pressure media event.
Madonna was the top touring artist. As someone who spends a lot of time on the road, have you learned anything by what she's done in her career?
One element of Madonna's career that really takes center stage is how many times she's reinvented herself. It's easier to stay in one look, one comfort zone, one musical style. It's inspiring to see someone whose only predictable quality is being unpredictable.
There were also artists on hand who are part of the new wave of younger performers taking hold at radio -- Selena Gomez performed, and Ariana Grande presented. What advice would you give them?
I never give advice unless someone asks me for it. One thing I've learned, and possibly the only advice I have to give, is to not be that person giving out unsolicited advice based on your own personal experience. I've always had a lot of older people giving me advice because I'm young, and in the end, it all comes down to who you want to be remembered as. Just be that.
Taylor Swift Q&A Backstage at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards
How did you celebrate your victorious night?
We had a giant dinner at Nobu for all of my bandmates, dancers and friends. It seemed like everyone was there. Ed, Selena, Austin Mahone . . . We were all just laughing together and rejoicing in a really fun evening.
How late were you out? Where did you go and who did you hang with?
I flew back to L.A. that night, so I was only out till about 1 a.m. Then I got home, said "hi" to my cat, then fell asleep in seconds.
You gave a heartfelt thank-you to your fans and acknowledged them as being "the longest and best relationship I've had." How would you describe that relationship? And how did it feel to have the opportunity to thank them publicly as you accepted artist of the year?
I loved being able to thank my fans for this life they've given me. Being on tour, I get a nightly reminder of how lucky I am to get to stand on giant stages and sing for sold-out crowds. Now I have so many girls my age coming up to me and saying, "I've listened to you for seven years." It's crazy to me that we've been in each other's lives that long and it still feels new. But hey, I guess that's what real love feels like.

Taylor Swift Reveals Relationship Dealbreakers
Taylor Swift Gives Relationship Advice“Never be jealous,” the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer revealed. “You can be competitive, but never be jealous. If you’re jealous in a relationship, it’s because you’re not confident in yourself. “
Well Taylor can definitely agree that jealousy is not a good look! Tay also revealed the best way to get a guy to notice you: “I think it’s always good to be somebody’s friends first. If it escalates into something more, that’s awesome. If not, now you’ve got another friend.”
Best way to tell a boy you like him? ”I ran into this problem a lot when I was in junior high because the guy I liked never noticed me. The best thing you can do is give little hints. Go up and talk to him! But don’t seem desperate. And never chase a boy, because it’s their least favorite thing.”
Taylor Reveals When She Had Her First KissAlso in the interview, Taylor shared when she got her first kiss! “I was 15. I was one of the last of my friends to ever kiss a guy. It wasn’t a bad kiss. I think it was cute. We ended up dating for a year! ”

In the midst of her Red Tour, Taylor Swiftmanaged to set aside some time to create a new fragrance. Her new perfume, Taylor by Taylor Swift, follows her previous two scents Wonderstruck and Wonderstruck Enchanted, but this time around she had a different idea in mind. Swift spoke with StyleWatch about her new line and how they differ from her other two.
“My first two fragrances were more about fairy tales but this fragrance is more about my own style, so I wanted the name to be more personal,” she said.
She further explained that the scent is a mix of a lot of things. “It’s sweet, it’s sophisticated, it draws you in. It’s really my way of translating classic, yet modern, into a perfume.” The bottle follows this theme of sophistication by featuring a ring of pearls.
Swift is the latest artist to release her own perfume to portray her personal style. Last summer, Lady Gaga debuted the “first ever black eau de parfum.” Called Fame, it was created by Coty, a fragrance company that has also partnered with artists including Jennifer Lopezand Madonna. Gaga’s perfume ingredients raised some eyebrows, as she described it as being made from “pulverized apricot, crushed heart of Tiger Orchidea and tears of Belladonna,” whatever thatmeans.
Meanwhile, Swift’s perfume has more natural ingredients, which include top notes of lychee, sparkling tangerine and magnolia petals, and a base of sandalwood, apricot nectar and a blend of woods.
Taylor by Taylor Swift will be available in Ulta stores and Ulta.comthis June.

'Taylor Swift's Talent Is Rare In History of Music' Says Tim McGraw
Taylor Swift's talent is rare and special, according to country singer Tim McGraw. He reckons there have only been a handful of people as gifted as the singerthroughout the history of music!
Think you're Taylor Swift's biggest fan? You've got competition in country star Tim McGraw, who sang her praises when asked what for his opinion on the popstar.
Taylor toured with Tim before she hit the big time, and the singer hasn't forgotten her 'special' talent:
"She's great. You know, I've been a fan of Taylor so long.
"She actually toured with Faith and I for our 'Soul to Soul' tour a few years ago."
So what singles Taylor out from the rest? Tim thinks talent like hers doesn't come along very often:
"You know she's one of those rare artists that come along that there's only been a handful of throughout the history of music, who creates such a weight behind her, pulls so many people into what her music is about that they discover so many different artists because of what she does.
"She's just a special, special artist."

OFFSTAGE: Glamour Reveals Taylor Swift's Smoky Eye Secret
March 22, 2013; Written by Alison Bonaguro
Oh, thanks, Glamour. I was just wondering how in the world Taylor Swift can wear such dark eye makeup without looking trashy, and there you were with the answer. So I expect my next smoky-eye look to be just as fabulous as hers now that I know the secret. "Look at Taylor Swift's smoky eyes. See how the bronze shadow softens the black liner," the magazine story says. They go on to explain that what they see her doing is using black liner to sex up the shape of her eyes, but then -- and this is where most women go very, very wrong -- she surrounds that liner with a softer shade or a metallic one -- as opposed to more black. The result is smokiness, without the slightest trace of "raccoon eyes." But when Swift's not after quite such a smoldering look, say for her happy, free, confused and lonely in the best way video for "22," she does a great job at low-key make-up, too. I don't know about you, but I think Swift looks good both ways.
P.S. for Swiftaholic fashionistas: You can get the shirt she's wearing in the "22" video from a French-based retailer.

Taylor childhood photos and more
With her sights set on Nashville, 11-year-old Taylor made this demo CD, convinced her mom to drive her to all the city’s record labels, and even dropped her demos off in person at each Nashville studio in 2000. Though she only got one response, that “keep trying” mentality was all Taylor needed to start learning the guitar and working harder.
After falling in love with country music, Taylor started singing at countless auditions and talent shows to put her passion for singing out there. One of her first big breaks was performing the national anthem at a Philadelphia 76ers NBA game in 2000. Who knew a little girl could rock such big pipes?
Taylor was only nine months old when she rode a horse for the first time. She also started ballet – and striking the perfect pose – when she was just 2 in 1991.
On top of being a smash-hit superstar, Taylor Swift is the kindest cutie with a guitar out there. The Red singer is even cuter in these childhood pics and videos! Read on to see your favourite country girl growing up.

Taylor Swift dishes on her eyesight: ‘I still need contacts’
Taylor Swift fans might get the impression the entertainer is bored as she currently is promoting her album Red. The entertainer has been updating the fans on a regular basis, but it appears she has run out of musically interesting things to say. On Monday Taylor Swift discussed her vision problems, letting fans know she still needs contacts.
“Just tried reading a hotel shampoo bottle an arms length away from my face to check if I still need contacts-Turns out I do. Eventful night,” tweeted Taylor Swift from her official Twitter account.
While Taylor Swift was no doubt being silly, some fans didn't even know she needed contacts to see. The entertainer rarely discusses her health on any public platform and those glasses seen in the different videos looked like props. Still, it appears that the time she spends alone on the road might bring little nuggets of information that are very amazing to Taylor Swift fans.
Taylor Swift is currently in Australia, but will be back in America for the 102.7 KIIS Jingle Ball held during the first part of December.

Taylor Swift on holiday season: 'This is my favorite time of year'

Taylor Swift has said that the holiday season is her favorite time of year.
The 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' singer revealed to Parade that she often gets carried away with festive glee.
"I really love the holiday season because I grew up on a Christmas tree farm, and it just reminds me of home and the coziness of it all," Swift explained.
She went on to say: "I love when it gets cold and you start wearing sweaters and coats and scarves, and you start baking things with cinnamon and nutmeg in them. To me those are the smells of Christmas."
Swift also revealed that her signature specialty in the kitchen is actually homemade jam.
"I make raspberry jam. When I was younger we had a grape arbor, and my mom would go out and pick grapes and make grape jam in the sink - boil it, put it in jars, and give it away as gifts," the country music star commented.
"So I started making raspberry jam, and it is so good. You can put it on anything; you can dip pretzels into it. I don't mean to brag, but it's so good you could just eat it with a spoon."
Swift recently admitted that she often falls in love too quickly, especially when she meets a "bad boy".
"I think every girl's dream is to find a bad boy at the right time, when he wants to not be bad anymore," she explained.

Taylor Swift Goes Punk Rock For 'I Knew You Were Trouble' Video
Taylor Swift Goes Punk Rock For 'I Knew You Were Trouble' Video Singer kicks country to the curb during video shoot in Los Angeles. By Jocelyn Vena
Taylor Swift may have kicked it old-school for her masquerade-themed 2012 American Music Awards performance of "I Knew You Were Trouble," but it seems the video for the dubstep track will keep its feet firmly placed in the now.
Swift was spotted on the set for the music video on Sunday, not long after she hit the awards show. She was photographed in L.A. rocking short hair with pink ombre ends and blunt bangs. Keeping the punk look going, she was also wearing cut-off shorts, a leather jacket and Converse kicks. In photos taken on set, she's even snuggling up with a guy, presumably her hipster bad boy love interest, on a balcony.
No word yet on when it will drop, but it would mark her third visual off her chart-topping album, Red, following-up the one-take party that was the "We Are Never Ever Get Back Together" and the Paris-set romantic stroll of "Begin Again."
Taylor Swift Lights Up The 2012 AMA Stage
Like with "We Are Never Ever Get Back Together," Swift worked with Max Martin and Shellback on the country-tinged dance track about her love affair with a bad boy. Sonically it strays a bit from Swift's country-pop sound.
"I brought in this chorus to Max Martin and Shellback and just kind of played it for them, and it was just piano/vocal, and I was like, 'At the end of the chorus, I want it to just explode,' and it ended up having a little bit of a flare to it that is reminiscent of dubstep," Swift said about the song last month. "It's very subtle, but I'm really excited because it actually sounds like the intensity of that emotion that I wrote about."
She further explained how it fits in with the rest of her album. She added, "This album is interesting because each song stands on its own. It's this patchwork quilt of different sounds and different emotions, and I don't think anything on the record sounds like 'Never Ever,' and I'm really happy about that because each song is its own approach to what that particular emotion sounds like, and it's a really, really different record from anything else I've ever done before."

Taylor Swift got Selena Gomez to take Justin Bieber back
Bang Showbiz Thu Nov 22, 2012 10:37 AM
Taylor Swift is reportedly responsible for getting Selena Gomez to get back together with Justin Bieber.
The couple reunited last weekend after the 20-year-old 'Love You Like A Love Song' singer's best pal Taylor, 22, reminded her that she is ''crazy'' about the 'Boyfriend' singer, who she dumped two weeks ago because of trust issues.
Taylor and Selena were spotted on a girls' night out on Saturday night and enjoyed dinner at Osteria La Buca in Hollywood.
A source close to the couple told gossip website RadarOnline.com: ''When Selena hung out with Taylor she was really stressed out and frazzled about everything with Justin. But Taylor reminded her how crazy Justin is over her and to just try to stay above the fray.
''The problem between them stemmed from Justin texting other girls. So Selena is embarrassed by what he did because it makes her look stupid, that he would talk to these other girls, and she is also embarrassed that everyone is so invested in their relationship now because of his actions.''
The couple are now eager to settle back into their relationship but are finding it difficult because of the huge amount of attention they are attracting.
The source also played down their argument last Friday during which Selena walked out of a restaurant after 10 minutes.
The insider said: ''There was no blow up. Selena is just super embarrassed by all of this attention surrounding their relationship and she got upset when they sat down and people were staring and pulling out their cell phones,
''She was uncomfortable and wanted out of there, and that's why they left almost immediately.''
Taylor Swift 'Red' Songs Aim to 'Surprise'
Taylor Swift 'Red' Songs Aim to 'Surprise'
While Taylor Swift has already shared a few details about her highly-anticipated album, Red -- such as co-writes with an eclectic mix of musicians -- fans will still have plenty to discover when the project hits shelves on Oct. 22.
"I really want there to be so many surprises left on the record for when it comes out," Taylor explains to Rolling Stone magazine. "Some collaborations that haven't been talked about and some songs that are definitely what make the album so unique."
That's not stopping her from giving fans a little more info, though. First, the songstress divulged that she wrote with frequent Adele collaborator Dan Wilson, and that she recorded a duet, "Everything Is Changed," with British pop star Ed Sheeran. And the secrets keep spilling!
"There's a song called 'Holy Ground' I'm really excited about," the Pennsylvania native gushes. "Jeff Bhasker produced it. There's a song called 'I Knew You Were Trouble' that I wrote with Max Martin and Shellback that I'm stoked about."
The CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee is even letting fans hear the new tunes prior to Red's release. Taylor will share a 30-second snippet of a song each Monday on "Good Morning America" in the coming weeks, with the song released on iTunes the next day. Yesterday (Sept. 24), the songstress shared the album's second track, "Begin Again."
"It's a song about when you've gotten through a really bad relationship and you finally dust yourself off and go on that first date after a horrible breakup and the vulnerability that goes along with it," the superstar explains of the ballad's clever lyrics. Download "Begin Again" here.
The debut single from Red, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," became Taylor's first No. 1 pop single. Pre-order the full album here.

Taylor Swift 'Girls Like Us'
Taylor Swift
Today, September 24, 2012, Variety has reported that the current country music heartthrob and pop sensation Taylor Swift will front the film and will portray folk singer Joni Mitchell. The roles of Carole King and Carly Simon are still unclaimed, but early reports had “Newsroom's” Alison Pill as a frontrunner for the part of King, but now Olivia Thirlby (“Juno”), Ari Graynor (“For a Good Time Call…”), and Zoe Kazan (“Ruby Sparks”) are also being considered for the role.
In an interesting move, all of the potential actresses, and Taylor Swift, are up and coming actresses, while “Girls's” Allison Williams, “Mad Men's” Jessica Pare, and former model Analeigh Tipton (“Crazy, Stupid, Love”) are all up for the part of Simon. Williams and Pare have an added appeal, as both of them can sing— one did a sultry twist on the Mad Men theme and the other made "Zou Bisou Bisou" popular again—but Variety reports that the final casting decision will come down to chemistry, not necessarily singing ability, which makes the film’s final line-up impossible to predict.
Taylor Swift Planning Spring 2013 Tour
9/3/2012 11:00 AM ET
(RTTNews) - Though it has only been about six months since Taylor Swift was out on her Speak Now tour, the country songstress has begun preparations for a 2013 tour.
"I really want to go out on the road in the spring. After I write a song, I always end up laying awake at night thinking, 'What are the lighting cues going to be on this? How big is the pit going to be?' I have been thinking of some big moments that are going to happen," Swift told Rolling Stone.
A new tour will give Swift the chance to hit the road in support of her forthcoming album, Red, due out October 22.
According to the 22-year-old, the new record "details the struggles of navigating difficult dating relationships as an adult."

Taylor Swift's New Album 'Red' Out October 22, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'
Taylor Swift's New Album 'Red' Out October 22, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' To Be First Single Posted: 08/13/2012 10:09 pm Updated: 08/13/2012 10:09 pm
Taylor Swift sat in a red and white striped dress, in front of a group of very lucky fans in Nashville, Tenn. (and the millions of fans watching via YouTube chat) Monday night, to reveal the details surrounding her next studio album, titled "Red."
"I have some really big news, I'm really excited because I have a new album coming out October 22 and I wanted to tell you about it and I wanted to tell you all about it right now," she told the crowd, which promptly erupted in cheers. "We've already done so much work on this, we've been working on it for two years."
A gracious Swift then answered a number of questions from the crowd, including a few lucky Google+ Hangout users who were able to video chat with the singer. Swift revealed the album title, "Red," comes from a song that will appear on the record, but the title track won't be the first single -- that honor will be given to what's sure to be the next breakup anthem, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" will be available @ iTunes and Google Play sometime tonight! Keep checking back and I love you.
Though we'll have to wait until October for the entire album to drop, the world can spend the next few weeks speculating what (and who) the 16 songs will be about. Swift's last album, "Speak Now," pulled from her past relationships with John Mayer, Joe Jonas and a few other famous fellas, giving us all a peek into her frequent heartache. The messages in the jacket of the compact disc of "Speak Now" dropped clever hints, clueing fans in on which songs were about which men.
When a fan asked the 22-year-old whether we could expect some similar messages this time around Swift replied, "It's pretty difficult to come up with because I know that you guys are going to figure them out and so I'm trying not to be too cryptic with it, but I'm also trying not to, ya know, give it all away. With the last album it was this guessing game and people pretty much figured everything out ... I thought I was much more clever and cryptic about it than I really was."
Along with the news of the album and single, Swift also unveiled the cover art for "Red."

Taylor Swift Has 'Cool News' For Fans On Monday

Taylor Swift has some big news for her Swifties, but those fans will have to wait almost a week to hear what the country star has to share with them.
The singer announced on Tuesday (August 7) that she will be doing a live webcast on Monday (August 13) at 7 p.m. ET. The event will go down on her official YouTube channel. The date of the livestream is hardly a coincidence as 13 just so happens to be Swift's lucky number.
"Hey, it's Taylor. So I really want to talk to you about something. I would love it if you would join me August 13 for a live webchat," she said in a video tease posted online. "You can ask questions. I want to share some news with you, some really cool news. Not gonna go into it too much, but it's cool. I'll see you there."
Fans who want to get in on the action can ask Swift questions through a live social chat that will take place during the stream. Additionally, there will be a Google+ Hangout created around the event.
Given that Swift has been hard at work on her follow-up to 2010's chart-topping Speak Now, it seems likely that Swift's "really cool news" has something to do with some new music.
She has worked with folks like British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran on the release, and when MTV News last caught up with the singer at the top of 2012, she explained that this album will show her growth as an artist.
"I made my last album, Speak Now, with this idea I really wanted to make an album without writing with anyone else just because I always wanted to do that. And now I have a different approach to this record. I'm getting to work with people that I've always wanted to work with." That means that she's seeking out some assistance "from all different places in music."
"I'm trying to be as much of a sponge as possible," she explained. "You have to evolve and try new things and change and that's what I've loved to do with this album."
While some of what she's putting out may sound different, there will remain one central Swift-ism that remains. She will be writing about the ups and downs of love.
"I think that love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about just because there are no two similar relationships, there are no two times that you feel love the same way or hurt the same way or [feel] rejection [in] the same way. It's all different and I'm fascinated by that," she said. "I really love to go back to human interaction and the way we make each other feel. But that at 22 is different than it was at 18 or 19 when I made my last album and 16 and 17 when I made Fearless. As you grow, you change in the way you process emotion."

Taylor Swift Considers Herself a Rebel — Sometimes “See yourself, be yourself,” is CoverGirl’s latest campaign message, and brand spokeswoman, Taylor Swift, can relate to the tagline.
“I think it’s really important,” Swift says in a behind-the-scenes video (above). “I look at the ‘See yourself, be yourself’ as kind of a self-awareness.”
For the ad, the superstar dons four different looks including ‘rocker-rebel,’ ‘country boho’ and ‘glam.’ And though the CoverGirl says she feels most confident in the latter look, there’s a time and a place for the others. “This is something [rocker-rebel style] I kind of like to pull out every once in awhile — like at an award show or a party or something like that,” she admits.
Would the blonde-banged singer describe herself as a rebel? That’s up for debate. “In some ways but not in others,” she explains. “In some way, I feel like you just pick which ways you want to rebel.”
Something she is comfortable pushing boundaries with is style. “I try to experiment as much as I can with fashion and makeup looks,” she admits. “My inspiration for different looks — as far as makeup — is things I see one of my fans wearing in a meet-and-greet line.”
So Swift fans, take note: your idol might just steal your look. “If I see a girl show up with this amazing shocking teal eyeshadow, I might try that the next night.”

Taylor Swift can be a tease!
SPW / Splash News
That Taylor Swift can be such a tease!
In a Facebook post on Monday, the 22-year-old country star gave fans a hint that big "stuff is about to happen."
"I'm writing you from Nashville, where I just sat in a big room with a lot of people and made a lot of decisions about a lot of things happening very soon," she wrote. "And as vague as that sentence was, I think you know what it means."
Well, Tay, we don't know, but we have a few educated guesses as to what you're talking about.
MORE: Taylor Swift and her Cat Meredith Are the Cutest Thing You'll See All Day
We do know Taylor cowrote a song with Justin Bieber. And while it didn't make the cut for JB's Believe album, his manager, Scooter Braun, told MTV News that "there's another record they want to work on."
So maybe Taylor's playing up another possible Swift-Biebs collaboration?
She's also been tweeting about her new music, which makes us (hopefully) wonder if she's hinting about her next album's release date. "It's been a wonderful week in the studio," she wrote last month. "I'm so excited about so much."
Perhaps Taylor could even be teaming up with one of her musical BFFs, Selena Gomez or Dianna Agron. They're already baking cupcakes and celebrating Shirley MacLaine's birthday—why not throw down a few tracks, too?
Think you know what Taylor's big news is? Speak now in the comments!
Taylor Swift has a new announcement!
Taylor Swift announced that she has some big news, but isn't alluding to what it is just yet. The country pop singer wrote on her Facebook page that she just made a lot of huge decisions about what's transpiring in the near future. Perhaps, those decisions could have something to do with a follow-up to 2010′s Speak Now. Fans will have to wait and see! [Popcrush]

So... what do you think this announcement will be? a single? her album being released earlier than Fall? let me know what you think.

Taylor Swift's Top 10 boyfriends, rumored boyfriends and crushes April Chieffo
7/9/2012
List of Taylor Swift's biggest real and rumored romances and crushes.
Taylor Swift is back in the headlines with speculation about her love life. The 22-year-old sparked rumors of a romance with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, Patrick, after she spent the Fourth of July with him and a group of friends. They were reportedly very flirty with each other. While the romance rumors heat up, we take a look back at Taylor Swift’s biggest romances, rumored relationships and crushes.
10. Taylor Swift and Cory Monteith
In 2010 Taylor Swift was linked to Glee star, Cory Montieth. At the time, like many of her rumored boyfriends, Cory assured he and Taylor were “just friends.”
9. Taylor Swift and Chord Overstreet
In 2011 Taylor was linked to Glee actor Chord Overstreet. Rumors began after Swift and Overstreet were seen together at an L.A. Kings game early in the year. Later that year, Hot Chelle Rae singer Ryan Follese, whose bandmate is Chord’s brother, said fame was to blame for the rumors and they never officially had a relationship. “They were just hanging out," he said.
8. Taylor Swift and Harry Styles
This year alone has been ripe with rumors about Taylor Swift’s love life. Back in April Taylor was linked to One Direction singer Harry Styles after they met at the Kids’ Choice Awards in March. At the awards, she was seen dancing during One Direction’s performance. Despite all the talk and rumors, Swift admitted a crush on him and Harry Styles dispelled rumors soon after they began.
"We met in America, she's very nice, yes," he said in April. "She is very talented... She's very nice... We're friends."
7. Taylor Swift and Zac Efron
It’s not uncommon for co-stars to fall in love and start dating. Taylor Swift and Zac Efron co-starred in the film The Lorax, an animated film they lent their voices to. While promoting the film this spring, the two were asked about their rumored romance and they laughed it off.
“You hear people get together when they’re shooting movies, co-stars. But not like animated co-stars. You know what I’m saying,” she told Ellen DeGeneres in February. “Oh my god, as we were recording our voiceovers on separate coasts we really connected,” she joked.
6. Taylor Swift and Stephen Barker Liles
In 2008, Taylor Swift released her album Fearless. On the album is a song called “Hey Stephen,” a song about Love and Theft singer Stephen Barker Liles, whom she had a crush on.
“The song is actually about a guy who I had a crush on and never told him,” she said. “So I wrote everything that I was thinking down in the song instead of telling him.”
Her crush found the song to be “the nicest thing a girl has ever done.”
5. Taylor Swift and Adam Young
Taylor Swift wrote about another big crush. On her album Speak Now, Swift sings about meeting Owl City singer Adam Young and the crush she had on him shortly after in the song “Enchanted.” When Young figured out the song was about him, he responded with a song, which he released on Valentine’s Day in 2011.
Nothing ever developed between Young and Swift, but Young has nothing but positive things to say about her.
4. Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal
Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal seemed like an odd pair when they began dating in 2010. It was a short-lived romance, however, lasting only two months. Their age difference, the publicity and a change in feelings were reportedly the reasons for the split.
In a 2011 interview with Vogue, Swift seemed to admit that the breakup with Gyllenhaal was hard for her.
“I’m not sad and I’m not crying this Christmas, so I am really stoked about that,” Taylor said in the magazine, adding, “I am not gonna go into it! It’s a sad story!”
3. Taylor Swift and John Mayer
Jake Gyllenhaal wasn’t the only older guy Swift has briefly dated. She was linked to John Mayer and opened up about the fling on her song “Dear John.” The relationship with John Mayer seems to be most bitter as Mayer recently admitted that he was “humiliated” by the song Swift wrote about him.
“It made me feel terrible," Mayer, 34, admitted in Rolling Stone’s June issue. I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do."
2. Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner
Taylor Swift can’t say she never fell in love on set. The 22-year-old met Taylor Lautner while filming Valentine’s Day. While they made a cute couple, the relationship eventually fizzled out. They broke up in December of 2009 after 3 months of dating. Swift wrote an apologetic tune that was featured on her album Speak Now called “Back to December,” which many believe is about the Twilight actor.
1. Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas
Taylor Swift’s first big public relationship was with Joe Jonas. Swift and Jonas began dating in the summer of 2008. Their relationship ended in bitterness as Swift said that Jonas broke up with her over the phone. She wrote the song “Forever & Always” about their relationship. They have patched things up since the break up. Jonas explained, "We're friendly, we're not enemies. People like to think that once you've dated, that's it and you can never be friends again. They see it in a very black and white way. But there's a middle-ground in that situation."

TAYLOR Swift has been warned off dating Patrick Schwarzenegger!
Patrick’s mom, Maria Shriver, apparently told the country star to take a hike because she fears Taylor will chew him up, spit him out and then write a song about him as she’s done with previous famous boyfriends.
“Maria got word to Taylor and warned her not to get any ideas about dating Patrick,” a source said.
“She basically told Taylor to ‘back off’.
“Maria is worried that Taylor will lead Patrick on and then leave his heart shattered in a million pieces, like she’s done with other guys.
“She’s 100 percent opposed to Patrick dating her.
“He’s entering the University of Southern California in the fall and she doesn’t want anything distracting him.”

The "Both of Us" singer had been invited the celebrate the national holiday with the political family and several friends, including Glee star Dianna Agron, 26. "She is close with the whole family," the source explains of Swift.
As for Swift and Schwarzenegger? "They are getting to know each other. We will see! But she didn't go there just for him."

After sailing in the afternoon July 3, Swift, Agron and the Kennedys -- including Robert Jr., Ethel, Ted and Rory -- spent time on the beach, "playing capture the flag and tag," according to an onlooker, who adds that "they had a bonfire."
"Taylor was taking photos of everyone with a huge camera and Dianna took one of Taylor with Patrick together," the onlooker tells Us. "He kept kicking sand at her and was flirty with her."

Taylor Swift to Ellen: I'm still single
Taylor Swift might have just released a new perfume and is working on a new album, but she still made time for an interview! She visited Ellen on the 4th of July episode and of course as usual, she was asked about having a boyfriend. Taylor said that whenever she goes on that show, she is asked. She once again confirms that she is single and insist that she is not lying. On top of all of that, she stresses that she does not take dating lightly! You can watch the whole exchange in the video located at the bottom of this post.
I feel bad for Taylor Swift. I think that she has come to terms about being single and it allows her to really focus on her career. I am sure in time she will find someone, but I do like how she views dating. I think she has a good idea on the purpose of it and I do hope that she winds up with that fairytale that most girls want. After all the bad relationships that she has been through and made good music based on, she deserves to have that. Granted, we can say that many people deserve to have that and it is true. But I really do feel for Taylor on this one.
Do you believe her or not? I see no reason why she would lie about it. She hasn’t been one to deny some rumored relationships, so don’t see how this differs from that. I think she personally is choosing to wait and see what happens. I think that is admirable. I hope that she can inspire some of the other young people. Taylor knows what she wants and she is going to fight for it. That takes a lot to do and I respect that she sticks with what she believes in when it comes to love.

Taylor Swift iheart radio music festival
Taylor Swift recently talked to the iHeart Radio Music Festival, where she dished on her last tour, fans and music. Taylor is currently off tour and is working on her next album, but she certainly hasn’t stopped her fame train as of yet. She currently released a duet, perfume and also has her Speak Now tour items on tour! However, Taylor is not one to toot her own horn as you can tell in the interview down below at the bottom of this article.
I am glad that Taylor is being so open and happy wit her career. She worked so hard to break into the business and yes, she has had she share of rumors and not so glam moments-but she still keeps plugging away. No wonder she is a CMA favorite and considered to be one of the best country singers out there. She has shown that it doesn’t all have to be about doom and gloom, which I think has helped repair that genre’s image. Plus she has helped to link pop music to country, hence why she has been a popular singer on the top 40 radio. She has easily become the Dolly Parton of the younger generation, I do believe.
How do you like her interview? Should Taylor hurry on her new album so she can head back on the road? No, she needs to take as much time as needed. I think that would be the wise choice for her and her career. However, I am sure she is eager to come back out on the road and doing what she loves. After all, a lot of her life has been doing nothing but release new music and be on the road. I suppose that is why in a way I sort of want her to take her time so that she can relax and take time off for a much needed break.

We know all about kissing costars…but what about costars who are currently kissing your ex?
We know all about kissing costars…but what about costars who are currently kissing your ex?
Well, not so much kissing yet, but definitely having star-spangled hug sessions. Which is the case for Taylor Lautner and Grown Ups 2 costar Patrick Schwarzenegger (yes, that'd be son of Arnold), who started working on their upcoming flick.
Think a certain blond country star came up in conversation?!
Of course we're talking about Taylor Swift.
As you surely already know, the songstress dated the Twilight werewolf before splitting and penning the song "Back to December" about their relationship (at least that's what popular speculation and a lot of not-so-subtle clues led us all to believe).
Now she's cozying up with the former Governator's son. The two—along with T.Swift's close gal-pal, Glee's Dianna Agron—were spotted sailing over the Independence Day holiday. No official word on whether the duo is more than friends, but Patrick did tweet, "Best 4th of July I could ask for."
And Taylor's hair is flawless enough to rock that Kennedy connection. Just sayin'!
Here's hoping that if things do start to heat up, Mr. Lautner will be able to pass on some tips of the trade to Mr. Schwarzenegger and help him avoid inspiring a Top 40 hit of his own.
That is, if they're not too busy yucking it up on set to even get down to the (possibly awkward) discussion. The sequel stars the likes of Adam Sandler, Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg and Chris Rock, after all, so we suspect there may be too many blooper-worthy hijinks to bother rehashing stories of love lost.

Taylor Swift is considered a great role model for young girls, but she has done one thing she wouldn’t want her fans to try.
“I once used a Sharpie as eyeliner in an airplane bathroom because I didn’t have any with me,” the star tells Refinery29. “I don’t recommend it.”
Though she’ll never try that technique again, she does stick with a signature makeup look. “I love red lips and a cat-eye,” she admits. “That’s been my go-to for a few years now.”
At the beginning of this year, the 22-year-old singer got bangs, which she did on the spur of the moment. “I was so excited to be shooting the cover of Vogue that I let them cut bangs for me at the shoot,” she reveals. “It turned out to be one of my favorite changes I’ve ever made to my hair. Moral of the story: Always trust Vogue.” Noted.

May 17 2012 12:04 PM EDT 5,675 Taylor Swift Donates $4 Million For Music Education Singer's donation to Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is second largest in Nashville museum's history. By John Mitchell
Taylor Swift has a reputation for being a good girl with a big heart, and when you pair that with her sizable bank account, you get one very large charitable donation that will benefit music education for both children and senior citizens.
The six-time Grammy winner has donated $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville to fund what will now be known as the Taylor Swift Education Center, an exhibit and classroom space scheduled to open in 2014.
"In terms of what it will allow us to do, we do education very well now," museum director Kyle Young told the Associated Press (via Billboard). "It will allow us to do what we do better, serve more people, develop new programs, and I'm happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do. Is there a better person out there who's in touch with a young audience? I think not. I was joking we should be paying her to do that. I was only joking."
Swift's donation is the second largest ever gifted to the museum and is the largest given by a musician. The country-pop megastar has a long history with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. She signed her record contract there and gave one of her first public performances on the building's plaza.
In the past, she has also volunteered her time to the museum's "All for the Hall" fundraisers.
The Taylor Swift Education Center is part of a larger $75 million expansion of the Hall of Fame that will more than double the size of the museum and include a new concert theater and more space for exhibits and archives.
The planned education center will be more than 7,500 square feet spread over two stories. It will have its own exterior entrance that will lead to three classrooms and exhibit space. The expansion will allow the museum to dramatically increase its youth education programs, with plans for it to house a "musical petting zoo" and an art classroom where children can make concert posters and other art projects.
The center will also give the museum the opportunity to add new programs and workshops for teens and senior citizens.
"For Taylor to want to engage herself in the life of this place in such an appropriate way," Young continued, "every way you slice it and dice it, it's great."

Taylor Swift Mother's Day card line
Taylor Swift Drops New Line of Mother’s Day Cards By: Amy Sciarretto | Yesterday Jason Merritt, Getty Images / American Greetings
Taylor Swift is known for her confessional songs regarding her romantic relationships, but she is also able to celebrate other interpersonal connections through a different artform. The singer has released a new line of Mother’s Day cards via American Greetings, which feature her imagery of her tunes, like ‘Stay Beautiful’ and ‘The Best Day,’ the latter of which she penned for her own mom, Andrea.
With such descriptive lyrics, Swift’s catalog of songs certainly allows itself to be transposed to greeting cards. The 22-year-old superstar released Valentine’s Day cards last year, and that was a perfect match, given the romantic nature of so many of her songs.
But Swift’s lyrics lend themselves to greeting card sentiments no matter what the holiday.
According to Country Music Is Love, Lindsay Kalback, who works on the Swift brand team at the card maker, said, “We’ve worked very hard to ensure that this year’s Mother’s Day collection from Taylor had the right variety to help consumers celebrate all of the moms in their life.”
She continued, “The cards really do a great job of reflecting the details that make every relationship unique while still offering the casual tone, bold designs, and fun enhancements that have made the collection so popular. We can’t wait for shoppers to check out the collection and we are even more excited for moms to receive the cards.”
The new-for-2012 Mother’s Day cards definitely portray Swift’s cute country charm with their pastel color, girlish details and feminine imagery. Nab a sweet, heartfelt greeting for your mom. We bet she’ll love it.

AMC awards Taylor win entertainer of the year
AMC awards Taylor won!!!!!
Taylor Swift won her second consecutive entertainer of the year award at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night, just 24 hours after she was saluted by first lady Michelle Obama for her charity work on The Kids' Choice Awards.
Even by Swift's lofty standards, it was an outstanding weekend — though tempered with a little melancholy.
After hugging her way to the stage, she took a moment to say hello to Kevin McGuire and his family. McGuire, a high school football player and Swift fan who has cancer, was to have been Swift's date to the awards, but he was hospitalized and couldn't make it.
"He's not here but I promised him I would give him a shoutout," Swift said of the Somerdale, N.J., resident.
The 22-year-old Swift becomes just the second woman to win the award twice after Carrie Underwood accomplished that feat before Swift. She beat out an all-male field that included Kenny Chesney, who was shut out at the awards after leading all nominees nine. Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson were the night's top winners with two awards apiece.
Swift did not perform but was an oft-acknowledged presence. In the monologue co-hosts Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton wondered about that rumored date with Tim New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow. She also was a presenter. Swift was given The Big Help Award by Obama in Los Angeles just a day earlier.
"I'm so happy about this," Swift said after thanking her followers for giving her the fan-voted award. "I want to say to my fellow nominees in this category I respect you so much and I love you."
Taylor working on the 4th record
Taylor Swift Still Hard at Work on New Album By: Brittany Joy Cooper | 11 hours ago Twitter
At the end of last year, we reported that Taylor Swift was getting to work writing for her 2012 record, a follow-up to her massively successful ‘Speak Now.’ The October 2010 release grew into the international phenomenon that was her Speak Now World Tour, sparking a series of sold out shows and all-star collaborations. And while we haven’t heard much in the past few months as far as album details, like a title or a release date, Swift did take to Twitter Wednesday night (April 11) to post a photo of her in a pair of headphones playing guitar in the studio.
“Recording the next album. So happy,” the starlet wrote. While Swift’s camp has remained pretty hush-hush on the specific details of the upcoming project, the ‘Ours’ singer has hinted at some of the material fans can expect to her from her this time around. Speaking to MTV, she said, ”So far, I’ve been writing so much in the last year and the label keeps telling me, ‘All right, we’re finished; all right, we’re satisfied; OK, this is done now.’ And then I just keep writing and I keep turning it in in different versions.”
Speaking to the theme of the new record, she dished, “I think that love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about just because there are no two similar relationships, there are no two times that you feel love the same way or hurt the same way or [feel] rejection [in] the same way. It’s all different and I’m fascinated by that. I really love to go back to human interaction and the way we make each other feel. But that at 22 is different than it was at 18 or 19 when I made my last album and 16 and 17 when I made ‘Fearless.’ As you grow, you change in the way you process emotion.”
In her February Vogue cover story, Swift said her fourth studio record will delve into “this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak” she experienced. Could it be the scars of ex-beaus John Mayer or Jake Gyllenhaal?
While Swift fans — sorry, Swifties — are still waiting on pins and needles to hear some concrete details about this record and when they can get it in their hands and on their iPods, they can rest assured knowing their favorite country celeb is hitting the studio and the “record” button.

Taylor Swift Forever
Taylor Swift Says She Has to Choose Outfits + Words Carefully as a Role Model by: Amy Sciarretto 4 hours ago Sandra Mu, Getty Images
Taylor Swift spoke about life as a role model on ‘Live! With Kelly’ back in October 2011, but the episode re-aired on Friday (March 23), according to Taste of Country. It’s very topical stuff since Swift is so highly regarded by the 18-and-under crowd. Much has been made of the fact that Swift is essentially the poet laureate of the teen set, serving as the voice of this generation of youth as they navigate things like love, broken hearts, changing bodies and more.
Swift maintains a wholesome, squeaky clean image — no late night paparazzi shots of her stumbling out of the club sans her knickers — and did express that she is mindful of her position as a role model and that she’s okay with it. In essence, she recognizes that it goes with the territory.
“I’m not uncomfortable with it,” she said. “You have to be conscious of that. If you’re choosing to put out music and be out there in the public, you have to be conscious of the fact that you are a part of the raising of the next generation and you do have an impact on that. So, choose your outfits and your words and your actions carefully. I think it matters. I think it really does. You can pretend it doesn’t, but it does.”
Swift echoed these very sentiments in her ’60 Minutes’ interview back in November, acknowledging that today’s musicians and pop stars do have a responsibility for “raising” the current generation and are therefore wholly accountable for their actions.
Thankfully, today’s generation are able to to relate to Taylor Swift, who embraces the role and is cautious when it comes to her sphere of influence, instead of, say, a hot mess like Lindsay Lohan.

Taylor Swift Pens Track About the Kennedy Family by: Jeff Giles 6 hours ago Andrew H. Walker, Getty Images
We know Taylor Swift has a reputation for writing songs about guys she likes — and guys she used to like — but we’ve never seen her turn her prolific pen toward a historical figure. Until now, anyway: inspired by her interest in the Kennedy family, Taylor wrote a song — and has struck up a budding friendship with Robert F. Kennedy’s daughter Rory, and recently met his widow, Ethel.
As Taylor told the story to the Boston Globe in a recent interview, she reached out to Rory after reading about her famous father. “I had read up on Robert F. Kennedy and his wife, and I asked Rory if it would ever be possible for me to meet her mother,” Swift remembered. “She said, ‘Here’s her number.’ Ethel was kind enough to have lunch and spend a few hours talking with me, and ever since then I’ve been so inspired by how full of life she is and the way she tells her story.”
“She really just loves my mother, which is so sweet,” Rory told ABC News Now. “I’m a huge fan of hers. I have young girls, and we had been to a few of her concerts. I met with her at one of them, and she had read a ton of books about our family. She was inspired and wrote a song.”
The Kennedys invited Taylor to attend the Sundance screening of HBO’s new documentary about Ethel (titled, appropriately enough, ‘Ethel’), and she accepted. As you might imagine, the Kennedy/Swift summit created quite the film fest hubbub. As one reporter put it, “Swift entered the staging area, and the place went nuts. Turns out that the pop star and Ethel Kennedy are BFFs — seriously, they sat together at the screening and giggled like schoolgirls.” (For the record, Swift later said the movie was “moving, hilarious, and beautiful.”)
No word yet on what Taylor’s song is called, what it sounds like, or whether it’ll make the cut for her next album. But one thing seems likely: it won’t feature any backing vocals from the Kennedy clan. “We are actually terrible, terrible singers,” confessed Rory, “but we love to sing.”
Does Taylor Swift have a new man? Published: January 24, 2012 9:33 PM
Does Taylor Swift have a new man in her life to write a song about? The 22-year-old singer recently had a romantic dinner date with actor Zac Efron, 24, at Los Angeles restaurant Pace -- the same spot that they ate with Justin Bieber just days before. In 2009, before Zac split from his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, he referred to Taylor as a "lovely girl, very beautiful." Taylor in turn called Zac an "all-around amazing guy." Zac and Vanessa split in December 2010 -- the same month that Taylor broke up with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Taylor Swift is writing songs for her new album, and she’s finding plenty of material in her relationships gone bad. Which ex-boyfriends should run for cover this time?
Swift, 22, says her follow up to chart-topping album Speak Now, will speak again from her broken heart. “There’s just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak,” she tells Vogue magazine. “And that will turn out to be what the next album is about.”
The country singer has famously had several brief flings. She’s dated Taylor Lautner, Joe Jonas, John Mayer and movie star Jake Gyllenhaal.
Check out Taylor’s photos; click to enlarge.
She pulled the plug on her with Lautner, whom she starred with in the movie Valentine’s Day. That yielded a song. Jonas ended their relationship with a 27 second phone call to her voice mail.
Taylor Swift Gets Grammy Snub
She’s not too vain to avoid some of the blame herself. “I think I am smart unless I am really, really in love, and then I am ridiculously stupid,’ she says.
She was hot and heavy with Gyllenhaal through the Fall of 2010. But up he broke up with her suddenly around the Christmas holidays over their age difference and different interests. Could he be in store for a song?
“The only way that I can feel better about myself—pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone – is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity,” she says.
At the moment, she tells the magazine there is no one special in her life. “I got nothing going on. I just don’t really feel like dating,” she says. “I really have this great life right now, and I’m not sad and I’m not crying this Christmas, so I am really stoked about that. I am not gonna go into it. It’s a sad story.”
Taylor Swift: Country Girl to CoverGirl
The country singer feels, however, that she’s learned from her mistakes. “I have a few red flags now,” she says.
“If someone doesn’t seem to want to get to know me as a person but instead seems to have kind of bought into the whole idea of me and he approves of my Wikipedia page… and falls in love based on zero hours spent with me? That’s maybe something to be aware of. That will fade fast. You can’t be in love with a Google search,” she says.
“Men who are threatened by what I do” is another.
“Also I can’t deal with someone who’s obsessed with privacy. If you care about privacy to the point where we need to dig a tunnel under this restaurant so that we can leave? I can’t do that,” she says.
While, Swift’s love life may be a non-starter, she’s at the top of her career. She won big at American Music Awards, taking Artist of the Year Award, and two other honors. Swift also won awards for favorite female country artist for the second straight year, and she nabbed best country album with her fourth compilation, Speak Now.
At the Grammys next month, she will be contending for country album of the year for Speak Now, but was shut out of album of the year, record of the year and song of the year.

Taylor Swift: 'I am ridiculously stupid in love'

Taylor Swift claims that she is "ridiculously stupid" when it comes to love, and that she has started looking out for specific "red flags" to save herself from future heartbreak.
The 22-year-old country singer -- who has already developed something of a reputation for being unlucky in love after high-profile relationships with Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, and Jake Gyllenhaal all burned out -- tells Vogue magazine that she is happy being single.
"I think I am smart unless I am really, really in love, and then I am ridiculously stupid," said Swift. "I got nothing going on! I just don’t really feel like dating. I really have this great life right now, and I’m not sad and I’m not crying this Christmas, so I am really stoked about that."

When asked if she was crying last Christmas, around the time she was reported to have broken up with Gyllenhaal, Swift said, "I am not gonna go into it. It’s a sad story!"
Swift, however, said she is happy to have been through heartbreak, as it has fueled her best songs. She says her upcoming album will be no exception.
"There’s just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak," she says, "That will turn out to be what the next album is about. She continues, "If a dude is threatened by the fact that I need security, if they make me feel like I am some sort of princessy diva—that’s a bad sign."
Swift's reveals that she also looks out for guys who "need to put me down a lot in order to level the playing field." And for her final dealbreaker, she says that she cannot be with someone who is too private about their personal life.
"I can’t deal with someone who’s obsessed with privacy," she says. "People kind of care if there are two famous people dating. If you care about privacy to the point where we need to dig a tunnel under this restaurant so that we can leave? I can’t do that."

Taylor Swift Calls Her Next Album 'Very Different' Country superstar tells MTV News that 2012 project has 'a theme.' By Christina Garibaldi (@ChristinaGrbldi)
This year proved to be another amazing one for Taylor Swift. She just wrapped up the U.S. leg of her Speak Now Tour, released her new Wonderstruck perfume and unveiled her video for "Ours." But now, Swift has her sights set on an even bigger 2012.
Swift is gearing up to release her fourth album, and in an October interview, she revealed that her new songs were not about "moving on." So when MTV News caught up with the country star at the Billboard Women in Music event, we had to ask which emotions were triggering such a personal album.
"I can't tell you, because it's a secret," Swift teased. "It will be unveiled when it all comes out, because they all seem to have a theme to them, the records that we've put out so far, and this one is no different. It's very different in what it's about, but it's no different in the fact that it has its own name." Swift was on hand at the event with another honoree, Nicki Minaj, who is also set to release her new album in 2012, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
"I love her," Swift said of Minaj. "One of my favorite moments of the tour was when she came out at the Staples Center and sang 'Super Bass' with me, which was, like, the coolest thing. It was like a dream come true, so it's amazing to get to run into her and see her around, and I'm just such a fan."
So would Swift possibly collaborate with Minaj on her next album? "I mean, we're not working on anything right now," Swift said. "But I would love to at some point. That would be amazing."
Are you excited for Swift's new album? Let us know in the comments!

Taylor Swift Says 2012 Album Is 'About Moving On' The 10 songs she's written so far are 'sad, if I'm being honest,' she tells The New Yorker. By Jocelyn Vena (@jocelyn1212)
It's been almost a year since Taylor Swift released the chart-topping Speak Now, which included the hits "Mine" and "Back to December." Fans won't have to wait much longer for the next country-crossover hits: Swift's next album is due sometime in 2012.
During an interview with The New Yorker, Swift said she recently decided that life is "about achieving contentment ... you're not always going to be ridiculously happy" — and that newly discovered viewpoint is leaking into her new music.
Throughout her career, we've seen Swift grow from a wide-eyed girl who sings about puppy love to a been-there, done-that young woman who understands heartbreak. Her new songs certainly fit into the progression. "They're sad, if I'm being honest," she said of the 10 songs she's written so far, adding that a recent track she wrote "is about moving on."
Of her abilities as a vocalist, Swift said singing is really just the vehicle to get her ideas out into the world. "I write songs, and my voice is just a way to get those lyrics across," she said.
In an interview with MTV News earlier this year, Swift said her ability to express her feelings in song has grown nearly as much as she has as a person. "I think retrospect will tell a lot. Years from now, I'll look back and go, 'I didn't know anything then,' " she said. "I had this song called 'Picture to Burn' that's talking about how 'I hate your truck' and 'I hate that you ignored me,' 'I hate you,' " she explained. "Now, the way that I would say that and the way that I would feel that kind of pain is a lot different."
Until Swift does put out new music, her fans can look forward to a concert album and DVD special called "Speak Now World Tour - Live," dropping November 21. It will include live versions of tracks like "Mine," "Story of Us," "Mean" and Back to December."

Taylor Swift – 2012 New Album Preview By: Amanda Hensel | December 27, 2011 Royce DeGrie, Getty Images
2012 is lined up to be a big year for Taylor Swift. As promised, the 22-year-old ‘Ours’ songstress will follow up her tremendously successful ‘Speak Now’ album with a brand-new release. While we don’t yet have many details on the release date or the title of Swift’s 2012 album, we know that Swift is sure to put her blood, sweat and tears into it — just like she has with all of her previous works. The singer has grown a lot since her 2006 debut, and we’re anxious to see what she has up her sleeve — and her mind — as she settles into adulthood.
The Inspiration
Heartbreak and moving on from it. In an interview with the New Yorker this past fall, Swift revealed that the songs she’s penned thus far for her 2012 album are “sad.” It’s obvious Swift has been scarred by a few folks in the past, and she’s still got plenty to say about it.
The Songs
A few months ago, Swift told Ryan Seacrest that she was already 25 songs deep in her new album — with a year to go. At this point, it’s a safe bet that she’s pocketed at least enough of the tunes for a strong new album, and the rest will stay under lock and key. Perhaps the most shocking aspect of the fact that Swift is prepared to release a 2012 album — what with her insanely busy schedule over the past year — is that she even had time to sit down and write. “Being so busy, there’s not a lot of time to stop in the middle of the day and just kind of think about this feeling that you just realized about a relationship you had a year ago,” she said, explaining that her best ideas come late at night and proving that as a powerful pop-country icon, she never sleeps. “The ones I love the most end up happening very quickly.”
What to Expect
Supposedly Swift’s best album yet, according to her father, and we don’t doubt his credibility one bit. In December, she released a song that she had been “VERY excited about for a VERY long time” titled ‘Safe and Sound’ with the Civil Wars, which appears on ‘The Hunger Games’ movie soundtrack (preview it here). The track is a bit of a departure from typical Swift songs and brings in a dark element, showing how she has grown as a songwriter and as an artist. We have no idea whether or not ‘Safe and Sound’ is representative of what’s to come on Swift’s own album, but the switch-up in sound is a welcome change, and we’re anxious to see how much of that direction will be reflected on her 2012 new album. The album is due in the later part of the year, which will give the young singer plenty of time to continue her Speak Now Tour overseas and maybe add a few more awards to her collection (she’s up for three 2012 Grammys). We anticipate that the 2012 release from the once-16-year-old ‘Tim McGraw’ star is going to be her most impactful of her career… So far, anyway.
*Taylor Swift and others to perform at Grammys ANI
London, January 14, 2012 First Published: 14:40 IST(14/1/2012)
Singer Taylor Swift performs during the Z100 Jingle Ball in New York. Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Bruno Mars have been announced as some of the artists that will perform at this year's Grammys on Feb 12. They will be joined by the Foo Fighters, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson. Kanye West has the most nominations with seven, including song of the year for All Of The Lights. The rapper reached the top five in the UK album chart last year with Watch The Throne, a collaborative album with Jay-Z.
Meanwhile, Adele has been nominated for six Grammys after her hugely successful year in America, where she scored both the best-selling single and album of 2011. Bruno Mars, who has previously topped the UK singles chart with Grenade, The Lazy Song and Just The Way You Are, has also been nominated for six awards.
*Taylor Swift, Foo Fighters to perform at Grammys, but WWKWD? January 12, 2012
Producers for the Grammy Awards have begun unveiling performers for its Feb. 12 telecast, starting with a pair of album of the year nominees -- rock act the Foo Fighters and R&B chameleon Bruno Mars. Also named among the initial crop of performers were country star Jason Aldean, former "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson, rapper Nicki Minaj and country-influenced pop star Taylor Swift, who no doubt acted with wide-eyed surprise at merely being asked to appear at the ceremony.
To maximize media attention, the Recording Academy will roll out the Grammy performing litter throughout the weeks leading up to the ceremony. It is typical for all album of the year nominees to perform, so it's all but guaranteed that future news releases will announce performances from Rihanna and Lady Gaga. The only question mark among this year's top nominees is whether or not soul singer Adele will be cleared by doctors to perform.
When it comes to who will or won't perform, perhaps the most tantalizing questions remain not in whether reunited acts such as the Beach Boys or Van Halen will appear -- likely with younger acts with whom they have little in common (ahem, Swift and Stevie Nicks) -- but is once again WWKWD (What Will Kanye West Do?).
The famed rapper has already criticized the Grammy Awards as "illogical," and while he has the most nominations with seven, his honors are predominantly in rap categories. West, however, is as unpredictable of a performer as he is a social network user, and his Grammy performances, including a glow-in-the-dark appearance with Daft Punk and a marching band blow-out for "Gold Digger," have been some of the most riveting the award show has seen in recent years.
Booking Adele, if she's given the green-light to sing, is a no-brainer, but the outspoken West may be seen as something of a risk, especially when one takes into account his multiple rants at not receiving an album of the year prize.
In 2005, for instance, West told MTV he would have a "problem" if he didn't win album of the year, and he has long been preoccupied with award show acceptance, including a backstage rant at the American Music Awards for not winning best new artist. So in a Grammy year when the only real drama is related to a pop star's vocal cord health, it's once again West who stands the most chance of giving viewers something to discuss on the morning of Feb. 13 -- if he's invited to perform.
The Grammys are determined by about 13,000 voting members. The eligibility period for nominated recordings was Oct. 1, 2010 to Sept. 30, 2011. The 2011 awards will be televised on CBS from Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Taylor Swift Joins The Civil Wars For First Live Performance Of 'Safe & Sound' Posted 1/13/12 10:54 am ET by Jocelyn Vena in Music, Taylor Swift
Music News Wearing a sunny yellow dress and pearls, Taylor Swift joined the Civil Wars on stage during their sold-out performance at the Ryman in Nashville to perform, for first time, their “Hunger Games” soundtrack song, “Safe & Sound.”
After some witty banter about the packed-to-capacity crowd and how she almost wore the band’s T-shirt on stage to perform with them, the trio launched into the ballad about trying to hold on to good in the face of lots and lots of terrible events (well that certainly does fit the themes of Suzanne Collins’s novel).
Post-performance, the twosome of the Civil Wars took to Twitter to thank the singer for hitting the stage with them. “An unforgettable night @TheRyman. Thanks to @taylorswift13 for debuting 'Safe & Sound' with us,” they gushed. “And thanks to all of YOU for being there.”
The T-Bone Burnett and Danny Elfman-curated soundtrack will also feature Arcade Fire, The Decemberists and even some vocals from its female lead, Jennifer Lawrence.
The film opens March 23, and if you haven’t heard (how's life under that rock?), Oscar nominee Lawrence will be joined by heartthrob and Miley Cyrus beau Liam Hemsworth as well as Josh Hutcherson. If you missed the performance from Thursday night, Taylor is next tapped to take the stage at the Grammy Awards next month. No word on what song she’ll perform, but here’s hoping she breaks our heart one more time with this track.Royce DeGrie, Getty Images
The People's Choice Awards last night (Jan. 11) in Los Angeles crowned Taylor Swift country music's leading lady for the second consecutive year! The 'Ours' singer, who did not attend the ceremony, nevertheless won the trophy for Favorite Country Artist, beating out Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts to take the honor.
Taylor, whose first People's Choice honor was the 2010 award for Favorite Female Artist, scored three nominations in 2011. The 22-year-old was also nominated for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Tour Headliner, with Katy Perry winning the award in both categories.
Blake was also nominated for Favorite Male Artist, with the trophy ultimately going to Bruno Mars. Lady A's album, 'Own the Night' was in the running for Favorite Album, which went to Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way.'
Faith Hill joined the festivities for the two-hour broadcast. The wife of Tim McGraw performed her current single, 'Come Home' during the telecast, earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
Katy Perry was night's big winner, taking home five of the fan-voted awards. Other big winners included the cast of the Harry Potter movie, 'The Deathly Hallows: Part 2,' which won four awards, including one for Favorite Movie Ensemble Cast, Johnny Depp, who won two awards, for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Animated Voice, and Morgan Freeman, who beat out George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks and Robert DeNiro to win the first-ever People's Choice Award for Movie Icon.

The twosome were clearly well-received — at one point garnering a standing ovation, after a performance of “Barton Hollow” — but that affectionate outburst wasn’t the only surprise last night.
Between tunes, Joy Williams jokingly introduced a guest performer who “hasn’t had much time on stage” and “is really new at writing songs,” and into the spotlight stepped a faux-shy Taylor Swift, with whom the Civil Wars recently collaborated on “Safe and Sound,” the haunting ballad from the upcoming Hunger Games movie.
Upon taking the stage, Swift, in very T-Swifty fashion, remarked, “Man, this is so sold out right now — do you know that?”

For the first time ever, the three singers performed “Safe and Sound,” and except for one slightly flat high note (via Swift, whose lilt was otherwise lovely and very much in tune) in the first chorus, they sounded terrific.
Swift, an expert at channeling the feeling of a song, stood solemnly with hands clasped and head low, while Williams and John Paul White brushed their crescendoing harmonic flourishes throughout. Watch the collaboration below:
What do you think, readers? Did you enjoy hearing the live version of the song? Does it get you even more excited for The Hunger Games?
